NetSuite Customization for Hawk Ridge Systems

THE CUSTOMER

Hawk Ridge Systems is a global provider of engineering design and manufacturing solutions that radically improve the way customers design and manage their product life cycle. As the leading SOLIDWORKS 3D CAD provider in the world, Hawk Ridge Systems has over 25,000 customers in the United States and Canada. The company provides innovative 3D software applications including SolidWorks 3D CAD design, CAMWorks manufacturing software and 3D Printing solutions from 3D Systems to its clients along with services, support and training.

THE PROBLEM AND THE FOLIO3 SOLUTION

Hawk Ridge Systems uses NetSuite as its business backbone ERP system and was searching for a reliable and tenured development partner who could help customize NetSuite according to their specific business needs. Customization and complex workflows were a critical part of their business and IT requirements to help streamline their complex product portfolio processes and operations.

The company chose to partner with Folio3 for this project, due to the Folio3’s exceptional reputation as a NetSuite SDN partner and its extensive expertise in NetSuite customization and integration work.

The NetSuite customization that Hawk Ridge Systems wanted developed and implemented comprised of the following:

  • Development of an automated quote generation system that streamlines the process of sales quote creation for the subscription services team (maintenance renewal), by automatically triggering the sales workflow in NetSuite and generating a sales quote. The sales quote is based on the renewal data on the customers’ product information records contained in NetSuite
  • Development of a custom analysis reporting portlet both on the home and customer dashboards within NetSuite that would automatically analyze Hawk Ridge Systems’ registered users and highlight the ones whose user registrations were due for renewal. This would save a significant amount of manual work, so far being performed by their systems staff
  • Development of a duplicate detection engine that would automatically detect and mark duplicate records created when importing leads into NetSuite
  • Development of a complete lead import engine in NetSuite that would help streamline Hawk Ridge’s lead import process
  • Development of a dynamic dashboard portlet within NetSuite that would enable Hawk Ridge Systems’ management to view monthly sales performance reports by sales representative and by region, from a drop-down menu

Working in close collaboration with Hawk Ridge Systems’ management team, the Folio3 team designed and developed each of the above solutions. They first custom functionality to be developed was the quote automation application within NetSuite, which was successfully built in less than a month followed by a step-by-step implementation of all the custom features as outlined by the customer.

Due to the NetSuite customization implemented by Folio3, Hawk Ridge Systems has been able to greatly enhance its operational efficiency and productivity. The automation of these time consuming and repetitive tasks has also freed up Hawk Ridge Systems’ staff, which can now focus on more high value tasks which are mission critical to their business.

As a result, Hawk Ridge Systems continues to be valuable partner of Folio3 with the relationship now in its second year
